Drain Problems Unique to Georgetown
Georgetown's combination of limestone geology, mature tree canopy, and mix of historic and new construction creates distinct drainage challenges that require local expertise.
**Older Downtown & Historic Homes (Cast Iron Pipes)**
Many Georgetown homes in the historic downtown area were built in the 1960s–80s with cast-iron sewer drains. Cast iron lasts 40–50 years, then corrodes and develops holes. We see cracks and collapses in these older lines. Camera inspection reveals the damage, and we recommend either spot repairs (lining) or full repipe.
**New Construction Areas (Debris)**
Sun City, new subdivisions, and infill projects sometimes leave plumbing debris in lines. We assess and clear construction debris from new builds.
**Limestone & Hard Water**
As mentioned, Georgetown's water is mineral-rich from the limestone aquifers. Hydro jetting is highly effective for limestone and mineral scale removal. For homes with recurring mineral issues, we recommend water softening systems.
**Tree-Heavy Neighborhoods**
Areas like Sun City and older established neighborhoods have mature live oaks and pecans. Root intrusion is common. We monitor these lines and recommend preventive hydro jetting annually or biannually to avoid emergencies.
